Drawn paintings. Painted drawings. Call 'em what you want. Years ago, some errant marks in the studio (artists always have strange detritus laying around) led to an interesting discovery, and a unique way of making drawings (sorry, not gonna share my recipe). I filed that information away in my little Rolodex brain for a future day. Last year I began to experiment with works that would straddle the line between drawing and painting. Talk about your proverbial tightrope. Paint does everything in its power to destroy the gesture of a drawing. Drawings try to suck all the juice out of paintings... can't you two just get along?
