I draw a lot, but most of my drawings are grubby little sketches that provide ideas for paintings. They generally stay entombed in my sketchbooks. I also make drawings as a first layer for my paintings. These go directly onto wood panel and become covered (or not) in paint. It is nice from time to time to hit the reset button and make drawings for the sake of drawing. When I draw for the pure joy of the experience I like to keep things simple, perhaps as a counterweight to my overly complicated paintings.
